Rethinking the Formula for Success:
The Power of Positive Education

We often are taught: “If I work harder, then I will be successful, and then I will be happy.” This formula is scientifically backwards. Shawn explains how when we flip the formula, and focus on being positive first, we raise nearly every educational outcome. By demonstrating how happiness is a choice, we can help students and staff not only cultivate positive habits and mindsets but achieve higher levels of success as a result.

Leveraging Blockchain in Education: Transparency, Accountability & Interoperability

This talk will explore the new opportunities provided by blockchain technology in the education sector. It will focus on how blockchain technology can help achieve greater transparency and accountability for academic credentials, as well as increased interoperability amongst a variety of institutional credentials and attestations. This could promote the transition towards a more interconnected model of academic credentials, enabling people to prove their knowledge and skills by aggregating credentials from multiple sources. In the long term, this could allow for more granular curricula, where people could aggregate multiple credentials into a wide range of ad-hoc diplomas, as opposed to a specific set of predefined diplomas delivered by a few recognized institutions.
