Dr. Banas has been a science teacher for over 40 years, primarily in middle schools but teaching high school level courses. She has reinvented herself to add Educational Tech. She is an adjunct professor for Miami Dade College Department of Education she teaches upper division courses. She is a leader in STEM/STEAM integration. She has been teaching an afterschool program, using the ideas from the Wright Brothers. She has launched a virtual Drone Career Academy with Somerset College Prep Academy South. To ensure the next generation learners, she works with lower elementary afterschool programs in STEM skills. Dr. Banas received her Masters of Education in 1986, and her doctorate in 1994. She continued to strive and earned her National Board Certification beginning in 1998, which she has renewed 3 times. She recently received her STEM Educator Certification. Dr. Banas has earned many honors over the years, most recently she was a finalist for the 2022 National Teacher Hall of Fame; 2021 Civil Air Patrol Aerospace Education Teacher of the Year and 2021 AIAA Educator Achievement Award Winner;
