Dr. Jordan Cox

Since becoming superintendent in July 2022, Dr. Jordan Cox has redefined the student experience in Commack Union Free School District by introducing real-world, immersive learning environments across all grade levels. Under his leadership, the district has launched groundbreaking spaces including a Bloomberg-equipped Financial Literacy Lab, a Mock Courtroom, a soon-to-open Medical Simulation Center, and a fully functioning elementary school farm. These innovations empower students to explore career pathways and connect academic learning to real-life applications from an early age. Dr. Cox holds a doctorate in educational leadership from St. John’s University and brings over 20 years of public education experience, previously serving as Commack’s Executive Director of Instructional Services. He is recognized for strategic leadership in K–12 curriculum, technology integration, professional development, and fiscal management. Commack’s innovative approach has garnered statewide attention: New York State Regent Roger Tilles toured the district and invited Commack educators to help shape the state’s financial literacy standards. With the development of high school "Schools of Study" in Law, Medicine, Education, and the Arts, Dr. Cox is leading a movement where students test-drive careers before graduation—making Commack a model for future-ready, authentic education in New York and beyond.
