Mr. Dustin Cogan

Dustin Cogan is a veteran technology leader with over 18 years of experience in K–12 public education. As the Director of Technology for Maquoketa Community School District in Iowa, he oversees all aspects of instructional and operational technology across multiple campuses, serving both students and staff with scalable, secure, and cost-effective solutions. Dustin has led district-wide initiatives including a major VoIP transition to 3CX, the deployment of district-wide access control and digital signage systems through a COPS SVPP grant, and in pursuit of USDA DLT funding to modernize classroom instruction with interactive panels. His collaborative work with administrators, facilities teams, and curriculum leaders has helped Maquoketa align technology with both security and instructional goals—without overextending limited resources. Known for his pragmatic approach and strong vendor partnerships, Dustin is passionate about helping rural and mid-sized districts build sustainable tech ecosystems that meet today’s demands while planning for the future. He is a frequent contributor to state and regional edtech discussions and previously presented at FETC on real-world communications and security infrastructure.
