Canal has 25+ years as a subject matter expert in K-12 / Higher Education school security management and technology. Served as a security director for three separate school districts in two states, including Orange County Public Schools in Orlando, FL, the 8th largest school district in the U.S. Active member of the Partnership Alliance for Safer Schools (PASS K-12) and sits on the technology committee and is a board member for Zero Now (zeronow.org) for school security in K-12/higher education. Canal is a member for National Council for School Security Directors in K-12/higher education, a member of the ASIS International Foundation Scholarship Committee. Association. He is Retired from the Indiana State Police and a Certified Protection Professional through ASIS International. Canal is a recorded certified expert in both the federal and state court systems. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Indiana University and a Master of Business degree from Indiana Wesleyan University.
