Alexandra (Alex) Spichtig, PhD, is an internationally recognized researcher on the role of eye movements and visual skills in reading and learning. As co-founder and CEO of the Stanford Taylor Foundation, Alex leads education and research initiatives focused on visual skill visual skill development and the relationship between proficiency and academic success. She has over three decades of experience as a classroom teacher, researcher, and instructional designer. In her former role as Chief Research Officer at Reading Plus, Alex incorporated her groundbreaking research on silent reading proficiency into instructional, assessment, and motivational tools. Alex has presented at many international conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals. Alex is the author of Ahoy! A Pirate Goes to See!, a children’s book about a young boy who conquers his reading difficulties while having fun and adventure along the way.
