Alex Mayszak

As the Director of Digital Learning & Innovation for East Moline School District #37, Alex Mayszak is leading the charge in preparing students and staff for a digital world. He has spearheaded initiatives to improve future-ready skills, including increased student access to project-based design thinking with 3D printers, coding drones for flight, embedding computer literacy skills across all content areas & grades, and implementing keyboarding curriculum that has resulted in consistent student growth since inception. Working with his team of Digital Learning Specialists, Alex has expanded professional learning opportunities for all staff through in-person sessions and an asynchronous module program called EMSD Anywhere, building capacity on a range of topics including artificial intelligence. Alex was named the 2025 IDEA Educator of the Year-Tech Leader. He is a Google Certified Trainer and ambassador for the ILTPP, Book Creator, Magic School, Screencastify, and Robolink. He received his B.A. from Augustana College and his M.S.Ed with Principal Endorsement from Western Illinois University. Alex is currently pursuing his Ed.D from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign in Education Policy, Organization, & Leadership. Prior to his current role, he served as an elementary school principal, as well as a middle school and high school history teacher.
