If you have heard SSO, federation, provisioning and rostering used interchangeably in a planning meeting, this workshop is for you. These terms all relate to user access but describe fundamentally different things, and mixing them up leads to security gaps, compliance issues and frustrated staff on the first day of school. Get a clear, jargon-free breakdown of the six layers of a well-architected K-12 identity environment: portals, single sign-on, federation, provisioning, rostering and rostered applications. Explore the critical difference between federated, token-based SSO and credential-based SSO, and why it matters for your district's security posture. You will build a mental model of how the layers work together, from account creation before day one to seamless access all year, and learn how to audit which layers your district has, spot gaps and identify which applications are truly auto-rostered. Leave with a framework and the right questions for evaluating identity and access management vendors. All workshops are BYOD and require All Access or Session + Registration to attend.
