T·I·C·K Framework: Teaching Self-Regulation for Neurodivergent Learners
When students can't regulate, they can't learn. This hands-on workshop introduces the T.I.C.K. Self-Regulation Framework (Take Time, Identify Emotion, Choose Strategy, Keep Going), a four-step, research-grounded sequence designed for neurodivergent learners in K-8 classrooms, ABA settings and inclusive environments. Tested in classrooms and at the kitchen table, the framework is experienced first as a learner, then debriefed from an educator's perspective, building a working understanding of the neuroscience behind each step. A highlight is a live demonstration of the T.I.C.K. Regulation Station prototype, a purpose-built, screen-free device with a tactile rotary dial, illuminated emotion buttons, audio-guided strategy prompts and LED feedback. You will touch it, use it, evaluate it and explore classroom and IEP applications. You will leave with K-8 implementation strategies for co-regulation and independent use, data collection frameworks for IEP documentation and MTSS Tier 2 and 3 support, and differentiation guidance for autism, ADHD, anxiety and trauma-responsive needs. All workshops are BYOD and require All Access or Session + Registration to attend.
