The greatest form of research is play. Step into a maker-friendly playground where STEM, storytelling and creativity collide in this two-hour, hands-on workshop. You will learn, tinker, build and remix ideas using STEM tools, simple technologies, readily available materials and open-ended design challenges that spark curiosity and imagination. Explore how remixing literacies expands learning beyond traditional reading and writing to include designing, building, storytelling, collaboration and problem-solving. Gain practical strategies for facilitating STEMPlayground-style experiences that connect STEM concepts with literacy and learning goals, along with ways to scaffold activities for different grade levels and learning needs. Discover how to embed short STEM challenges into existing lessons, use them as enrichment or extension activities, or build them into project-based learning. Get ready for big ideas and plenty of aha moments you can bring straight back to your library, classroom and makerspace.
