Most districts think they have AI agents, but custom GPTs, Gems, and Copilots are prompt wrappers, not agents with real reach. A true agent can plan a task, call on many tools, take multi-step action inside your systems, and check its own work, all within permissions you control. It is the difference between a chatbot that answers questions and a colleague that does the work. This session shows how Peninsula School District gave every staff member access to an agent platform built on 31 scoped tools, with permissions calibrated to each role. Principals now use their agents to analyze school data and generate daily briefings with actionable next steps, work that once took hours of manual digging. You will learn how to evaluate whether what your district calls an agent truly qualifies, see how the platform was built and scoped, and receive resources including its permission model. You will also learn to pick a first high-value use case: one role and one recurring, data-heavy task.
