Career and Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) are often seen as extensions of CTE programs, but their benefits reach far beyond career preparation. Through hands-on projects, competitive events, service learning and leadership experiences, students apply classroom learning in authentic settings while strengthening communication, collaboration, critical thinking and problem-solving. This poster presentation explores how CTSOs serve as powerful platforms for STEAM learning, enabling students to apply science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics to real-world challenges and build durable skills for a complex world. Discover how CTSOs create vibrant learning communities that connect students, educators, industry professionals and community partners, and why research suggests CTSO participants often show higher levels of engagement, career readiness, leadership development and persistence toward postsecondary goals. Drawing on experience designing and leading CTSO competitions and events at the state and national levels, presenters share practical examples, lessons learned and actionable strategies for creating engaging, authentic learning experiences that benefit students across the curriculum.
