Design in zones, design for everybody, and that absolutely includes students with sensory needs. Successful sensory spaces take more than shopping for items; they depend on connecting the physical environment with students' mental landscape to create a layered ecosystem where they can grow and thrive. A thoughtfully designed space can encourage focus, support the whole child, and help replace disruptive behaviors with new, positive ones. In this participatory Brain Gym session, you will get inside knowledge of how to plan, design, and implement sensory spaces, along with approaches to data collection, staff training, and ongoing maintenance and care of materials. You will also pick up tips for creating highly cost-effective sensory items from scratch and for implementing new methods that may support positive behavior. Stop by to discover how space itself can help students thrive.
