Eco-Bot Engineers: Design, Build, and Code for Conservation
Hands-on project-based learning can transform student engagement and deepen connections to academic content. In this interactive Mobile Mega Share, you will take on a Build-A-Bot conservation challenge that blends environmental science, engineering design, electrical circuitry and computational thinking. Design and test miniature motorized endangered species bots and habitats while exploring how students can investigate forces and motion, cause and effect, habitats and adaptations, and human impact on ecosystems. See how the activity expands from hands-on circuitry and modeling into coding, robotics, digital storytelling and research tools. While the theme is conservation, the focus is a transferable project design model that can support many themes, from accessible playground design and community planning to literature-based challenges and student-created games. You will leave with project templates, implementation ideas for any level of technology access, and a practical pathway for turning existing lessons into high-engagement learning for classrooms, makerspaces, STEM labs and libraries.
