What happens when a student's passion for emerging technology becomes a platform for community service? Drones for Dreams began with one St. Vrain Valley Schools student who saw an opportunity to use his skills to help others, and it has grown into a major initiative supported by a $25,000 grant. In this inspiring session, district leaders and student leaders share how trusting students with authentic responsibility turns learning into philanthropy. Students describe their roles in communicating with partners, pursuing grant funding, and turning creative vision into community action. You will explore a practical framework for elevating student ideas into community-facing CTE opportunities, moving from student interest and agency to authentic work, community partnership, and measurable impact. Learn how to leverage grants, nonprofits, and industry partners as real collaborators. You will identify one existing student project in your district and map a concrete next step toward helping students take full ownership of its community impact.
