Generic AI tools only go so far. What if you had an assistant built around your own content, curriculum and workflows? This workshop demystifies creating your own custom GPT, Gem, skill or app tailored to your needs as an educator or administrator, with no advanced coding skills required. You will learn how to define a custom assistant's purpose, curate relevant resources to train it and use user-friendly platforms to build it, transforming how you generate resources, differentiate instruction, streamline communication and automate repetitive workflows. Explore real-world K-12 examples, from subject-specific assistants to parent communication templates and data trend analysis. Then put it into practice: identify a repetitive task or content area, gather existing materials such as lesson plans, rubrics and FAQs, and use the demonstrated tools to build a small-scale assistant, perhaps one that generates writing prompts, answers common student questions or summarizes curriculum documents. You will leave with actionable steps and accessible tools that save you time and free you to focus on students and leadership. All workshops are BYOD and require All Access or Session + Registration to attend.
