AI is reshaping how students complete work, raising pressing questions about academic integrity and student thinking. Rather than focusing only on preventing cheating, this round table discussion explores how educators can design clear systems and learning experiences that keep thinking at the center. Participants will discuss three essential tools. First, an AI Use Matrix that defines when and how students can appropriately use AI and where independent thinking must be preserved. Next, clear, student-friendly guidelines that communicate expectations and reduce confusion. Finally, the T.E.M.P.E.S.T. framework (Teacher-Driven, Educational Goals, Meaningful, Project-Based, Engaging, Standards-Aligned, Tomorrow-Ready) for reviewing and redesigning lessons so tasks require genuine thinking and can't easily be completed by AI alone. The conversation also covers selecting AI tools intentionally to enhance learning rather than replace it. You will leave with a practical system for clarity, consistency and integrity that you can share across teams and departments right away.
