Building Brain Coaches: Responsible AI-Supported Routines for Student Executive Function
Executive function skills are critical for student success, yet many learners, especially neurodiverse students, struggle with focus, organization, emotional regulation, task initiation and independence. In this hands-on workshop, you will design structured, teacher-guided AI routines that help students build self-regulation, metacognition and problem-solving skills without outsourcing the thinking they need to practice. Learn to identify executive function barriers and create prompts, reflection routines, checklists and classroom scaffolds that help students pause, plan, prioritize, monitor progress, manage frustration and revise their work. Explore responsible-use boundaries, including keeping adult judgment in the loop, protecting student privacy and preventing AI from becoming an answer-giver, emotional substitute or shortcut around productive struggle, so students learn to use AI as a thinking partner. You will leave with ready-to-use templates, student-facing routines and practical examples, plus at least one classroom-ready routine, such as a pause-plan-do-reflect prompt, frustration reset script or task breakdown support, that you can implement immediately with individuals, small groups or whole classes. All workshops are BYOD and require All Access or Session + Registration to attend.
