Beyond the Black Box: Building Trust, Transparency, and Human-Centricity in the Age of AI
AI systems are making consequential decisions in schools, and most educators cannot explain how. The more capable models become, the harder they are to interpret, govern and trust. This workshop moves beyond debates about good AI versus bad AI to give leaders a tactical roadmap for embedding transparency and accountability into how their institutions adopt and deploy AI. Examine real cases where algorithms failed due to unchecked bias, and see how leading organizations are operationalizing responsible AI. You will learn to apply a Trust Architecture framework that establishes human-in-the-loop accountability without sacrificing operational speed, use practical bias-detection strategies to audit AI tools and datasets before and after deployment, and shift your institutional culture to treat explainability as seriously as accuracy in AI evaluation and governance. Explore emerging regulatory requirements, including the EU AI Act and state-level frameworks, and build proactive compliance strategies through collaborative activities with peers. In an era of black boxes, transparency is the most powerful leadership tool you have. All workshops are BYOD and require All Access or Session + Registration to attend.
