AI That Enhances Learning: A Model Lesson and Framework for K-12 Classrooms

AI can enhance learning, but only when it is used intentionally and the tools are designed for learning. This workshop introduces a simple framework and lets you experience it through a model lesson. First, you will sit in the student seat and interact with an AI tool the way your students would, seeing firsthand how guardrails keep students focused on thinking instead of shortcuts, how a teacher dashboard makes student learning visible in real time and what it looks like when AI is deployed at exactly the right instructional moment. Then you will flip to the teacher lens and unpack the framework behind the lesson. You will learn the three requirements for using AI as a learning tool and how to evaluate AI tools by their design features, including pedagogical guardrails and teacher visibility dashboards. Leave with at least one AI-enhanced instructional experience designed for your own classroom and a practical plan for integrating AI as a learning tool, not a replacement for learning.
