Forget static slides: it's time to bring developmentally appropriate vibe coding to the elementary maker classroom. This fast-paced session shows how Canva's emerging AI creation tools enable upper-elementary students to safely build and publish fully functional, responsive websites. You will see actual websites created by 3rd, 4th and 5th graders across a variety of subject areas, proof of what young learners can do as creators instead of consumers. Learn to scaffold a classroom-tested prompt-to-widget workflow that bridges computer science with core academics, and explore a curriculum framework that balances AI output evaluation with design thinking. Understand how to move students from template users to intentional AI prompters, evaluate the developmental appropriateness of AI website tools, recognize data privacy parameters and measure student-engineered work. You will leave with a ready-to-use implementation toolkit, including age-appropriate AI prompt samples, design thinking templates and customizable grading rubrics, that works in any 3rd-5th grade subject without coding syntax, plus a professional development outline coaches can use to scale the approach.
