Screen time debates dominate school board meetings, parent forums and staff lounges, but the conversation is stuck on the wrong question. This workshop flips the frame: instead of asking how much, Ann Arbor Public Schools asks how well. Drawing on two years of classroom observations, family feedback and collaborative development, you will explore the Screen Ready Initiative, a K-12 progression model that gives districts shared language and practical tools for developing students who use technology with purpose, skill and judgment. Engage with the READY Framework, a five-dimension model for purposeful technology use; examine grade-band progressions from Digital Foundations through Digital Leadership; practice with the Tech Decision Filter for planning before, during and after technology use; and explore a family communication model that honors parent concerns. Whether you are responding to parent pushback, building staff shared language or designing a multi-year progression, bring your device and your current challenges. You will also get a first glimpse of the district's coordinating AI-Ready pathway. All workshops are BYOD and require All Access or Session + Registration to attend.
