Professional Voices, Competitive Skies: Empowering Students Through Drone Alliances

Drone competitions do more than teach students to fly. They develop confident communicators, collaborative problem-solvers and future technology leaders. This poster presentation explores how programs such as CoDrone EDU and the Aerial Drone Competition create authentic opportunities for students to build coding, communication, teamwork and critical thinking skills through competitive STEM experiences. Hear student stories and testimonials about how competition helped them gain confidence, grow as leaders and explain technical concepts effectively. Explore a sample coding challenge and a mock team interview modeled on competition settings to see how students learn to articulate strategies and reflect on challenges. Drawing on experiences in Title I schools, the presentation highlights how drone programs create meaningful opportunities for English language learners, students from low socioeconomic backgrounds, gifted and talented students and other underrepresented groups.
