Listen to Your Brain
In a world flooded with new tools, platforms and AI-powered possibilities, it's easy to focus on what we're using instead of how students actually learn. Yet one thing hasn't changed: we need to better understand the human brain. Grounded in neuroscience and classroom experience, this session explores how attention, memory, emotion and social connection shape learning, and how instructional design decisions can either align with or work against these natural processes. Many teachers have had little or no exposure to brain research, so you will gain a grounding in the basics of cognitive development and how classroom practice can better support key milestones. Discover why many well-intentioned uses of technology fall short and how a tools-first mindset can lead to shallow engagement and cognitive overload. Rather than focusing on specific apps, you will leave with a practical framework for designing brain-aligned learning experiences driven by curiosity, meaning and authentic experiences, plus renewed clarity on when, and when not, to use technology to maximize impact.
