Leading AI in Your District: We Skipped AI Literacy and We’re Paying for It

Most districts have an AI policy. Far fewer have teachers who know how to teach responsible AI use, assess learning when AI is in the room or choose the right AI model for the job. The missing step is AI literacy, and skipping it has created real problems in classrooms across the country. This session helps school leaders understand why skipping AI literacy creates downstream problems in instruction, assessment and academic integrity, and what teachers actually need to teach responsible AI use and redesign assessment in the age of AI. You will apply a four-part framework for leading AI integration to assess where your district currently stands, then identify concrete next steps for an AI integration plan that moves beyond policy and into practice. If your district has guidelines but teachers are still struggling, you will leave with a clear picture of what to do next.
