Cybersecurity 101 - Best Practices for Initial Assessment / AD Compliance / GPO Monitoring

Is your network as secure as you think it is? This workshop walks you through the decision-making process and best practices for building sustainable, secure network protocols in any school environment. We will examine wireless and wired infrastructure, cloud environments, bandwidth planning, and what to consider when purchasing digital hardware and software, along with how to implement safe and secure technologies. You will gain a clearer understanding of your infrastructure, Active Directory, and Group Policy Objects, and explore key policies and the different types of malware that threaten districts today. We will close by reviewing a sample checklist covering cybersecurity, information security policy, security controls, and vulnerability assessment. You will leave ready to begin developing a cybersecurity assessment of your own and with a practical foundation for strengthening your district's security posture.
