Most students know how to complete a task; far fewer know how to own an idea. This workshop introduces Classroom Cypher, a pedagogy-first approach inspired by the collaborative energy of hip-hop that makes learning multimodal, student-led and play-based. You will engage in two ELA standards-aligned tasks on synthesis and vocabulary in context using the four Cypher modes: Flex, movement-based learning inspired by breakdancing; Refine, linguistic development modeled on emcees; Explore, audio-based reasoning drawn from DJs; and Express, visual storytelling shaped by graffiti art. Then you will move through a rapid design cycle to build your own multimodal challenge around a standard you teach, and explore how AI feedback systems, game-based environments and augmented reality can extend student thinking, iteration and formative assessment. Leave with a completed Cypher lesson template, a standards-to-modes planning process and an adaptable activity menu for any grade or content area, plus a new lens on how arts, play and culture can raise both engagement and rigor. All workshops are BYOD and require All Access or Session + Registration to attend.
