Certified AI Savvy: Reimagining 7th–12th Grade AI Literacy

Step into the shoes of a student and experience the 8-day AI certification course that one district's teacher leaders created to cultivate responsible student AI use in grades 7-12. In this hands-on, two-hour workshop, you will navigate four core instructional modules. First, demystify the technology by comparing machine learning data patterns with human cognitive processes. Next, master the human-AI partnership using the CICO prompting method. Then move into critical ethics: protecting personal data, identifying AI bias and hallucinations, and maintaining academic transparency. Finally, co-pilot an AI-supported public service announcement on the future impacts, risks and benefits of AI on society. Because this framework was built by teachers rather than packaged as a rigid corporate curriculum, it is designed to be fully customized to your district's culture and technology guidelines. You will leave with the student-facing curriculum framework, teacher scripts and success criteria, ready to launch the course in a middle or high school advisory period and grow AI-literate students.
