Amendola is an author, editor, copywriter, high school literature, and journalism teacher at Dawson County High School in Dawsonville, GA. Amendola teaches with a focus on integrating foundational AI literacy into her ELA classroom and maximizes creative strategies with technology for high student engagement. She completed her educational credentials at the University of Georgia with a B.S.Ed. and M.Ed. in English Education and also holds an Ed.S. in Learning, Design, and Technology. As a part of the 2019 cohort of ISTE’s AI Explorations in the Classroom course, she’s created and produced a video of how teachers can integrate AI into their ELA curriculum. In 2020, Amendola co-wrote Integrating Computer Science into the Core. In 2023, she earned the Apple Distinguished Educator designation and is writing her second book titled, AI Literacy in ELA and in 2025, she became a GenerationAI Fellow. Her eighteen years as a classroom teacher have been focused on preparing students for the Fourth Industrial Revolution and her primary objective as an educator is to provide a framework where students may explore and learn new skills to enable artificial intelligence to bridge the gap between traditional curriculum and become critical thinkers.
