Dr. Marialice B.F.X. Curran

Founder and Community Architect, Digital Citizenship Institute
United States
Marialice B.F.X. Curran, Ph.D. is an educator, consultant, and community architect who has been internationally recognized for her intergenerational approach in digital citizenship. During the pandemic, she began to pivot her work to focus specifically on the pillar of balance, connecting digital life to mental and social health. In May 2020, she joined #SameHere Global during a panel session for Mental Health Awareness Month. This moment launched her advocacy for mental health in school communities at school, home, play, and work. Today, she continues to design programs for school communities, organizations, and conferences around mental health. Aligned with the #SameHere Global mission, Dr. Curran champions the message that mental health is a part of everyday life for “5 in 5” of us, not just the one in five with a diagnosis. She designed the content for #SameHere Global’s Gym for the Brain at FETC, a space open to all attendees throughout the conference. The Gym for the Brain offers evidence-based STARR (Stress and Trauma Active Release and Rewiring) exercises that help participants regulate stress, rewire emotional responses, and build proactive routines for health and resilience. Through this work, Dr. Curran continues to help educators and school communities build cultures of openness and support, where conversations about mental health are normalized and wellbeing practices become part of daily life.
