David Ross is the former Senior Director of the Buck Institute for Education (now
PBLWorks), where he wrote the PBL Starter Kit and created and directed the PBL
World Conference. David later worked in Washington DC as the CEO of the
Partnership for 21st Century Learning, where he coordinated the bipartisan 21st
Century Learning Caucus in the House of Representatives.
He has presented at nearly 100 education conferences over the last 30 years on a
variety of topics, but focuses heavily on generative AI and PBL. He balances his theoretical knowledge with more than a decade of classroom teaching, including four years as a high school history teacher and eight years as a sixth-grade social studies teacher. In 2020 he was named a Global Education Fellow by the California Department of Education. Over the last two years he has received professional certification in prompt engineering from a variety of organizations and Vanderbilt University.
David is a Google certified educator. He writes widely on the intersection between
generative AI and curriculum design and is active on social media via a
newsletter (@DavidPBLRoss) called AI Bits and Bytes for the Classroom. His current work includes consulting roles with AI startups (Braide, Curiously).
