Mr. Daniel Friedman

Director of Educational Technology, Hicksville Public Schools
United States
Daniel L. Friedman is the Director of Educational Technology for Hicksville Public Schools, supporting 5,800 students and 1,200 staff through transformative initiatives including one-to-one device deployment and Google Workspace integration. His work has advanced digital literacy, streamlined operations, and strengthened data privacy across the district. A classically trained French horn player, Dan began his career as a music educator and Fine and Performing Arts Administrator, bringing a deep passion for creativity and instruction to every role. He was recently honored with the Fred Podolski Award for Visionary Leadership in Educational Technology, recognizing his forward-thinking leadership. Dan’s current research explores the intersection of pedagogy and artificial intelligence, with a focus on questioning techniques and prompt engineering. As a two-time victim of identity theft, he brings a personal lens to cybersecurity and data protection. His driving question: “What will identity and identification systems look like in the future, and how must schools protect the current and future identities of students and staff?” Dan is committed to using technology to enhance learning, inspire creativity, and prepare students for the future of work in a rapidly evolving digital world.
