Dr. Casey Swift

Learning and Development Manager, Florida Virtual School
United States
I’m Dr. Casey Swift, a Learning and Development leader dedicated to transforming professional learning into meaningful, human-centered experiences that inspire growth, innovation, and confidence. With an Ed.D. in Instructional Technology and extensive experience designing learning for virtual K–12 educators and support professionals, my work centers on making technology approachable, purposeful, and empowering. As a Professional Development Designer and Facilitator, I create learning that moves beyond compliance and checklists to spark genuine curiosity and practical application. My approach combines instructional design, technology integration, and organizational development to help people not just understand tools and strategies, but actually use them to improve outcomes. Whether it’s guiding teachers through digital citizenship practices, helping support staff leverage AI to streamline workflow, or leading sessions that build confidence with Microsoft and Google tools, I believe learning should always feel achievable, relevant, and energizing. My professional learning philosophy is rooted in research-based frameworks like TPACK, Lean Six Sigma, and Universal Design for Learning. I use these to align learning experiences with organizational goals while still honoring the learner’s time, expertise, and individuality. I’ve designed and facilitated dozens of sessions across topics such as responsible AI integration, executive function supports, prompt engineering for productivity, and time-saving tech strategies. Each session is intentionally framed, visually engaging, and paced for real-world implementation. Beyond facilitating learning, I’m committed to building systems that make growth sustainable. As part of my ongoing work, I lead the design and enhancement of OnDemand learning libraries that blend microlearning and macrolearning opportunities. These libraries support continuous improvement, ensuring that professional learning remains accessible, measurable, and relevant across the organization. I also bring a creative side to everything I do. From developing branded campaigns that reimagine the PL experience to designing multimedia content that helps complex ideas click, I believe creativity is what bridges the gap between engagement and impact. It’s not just about teaching technology- it’s about helping people see what’s possible when they use it well. Outside of work, I’m a maker at heart. I run a small creative brand, “A Couple of Geeks Designs,” where I combine technology, design, and embroidery to create personalized pieces that celebrate geek culture and craftsmanship. My home life is shared with two lovable beagles, Thor and Loki, who inspire both patience and joy on a daily basis. At my core, I’m driven by a simple goal: to help others do their best work by rethinking how learning happens. When professional learning is practical, personal, and thoughtfully designed, it becomes more than training- it becomes transformation.
