Carol Unterreiner is the Project Lead The Way (PLTW) instructor and Department Chair at Milwee Middle School in Seminole County, Florida, with over 30 years of experience in STEM education. She has served on the Discovery Channel’s VCR Teacher Team and is a 2023–2024 ITEEA 21st Century Leadership Team member, a 2024–2025 Society for Science Teacher Advocate, and a 2024–2025 AEOP RESET Teacher. Carol has presented at numerous conferences, including ITEEA, PLTW, ISEA, NSTA, FAST, FEEC, TSA, and UCF SECME. She advises several student organizations such as TSA, SECME, Beta Club, and the Girls’ Engineering Breakfast Club. Her professional affiliations include SWE, TSA, IEEE, AIAA, MSA, and ITEEA, where she serves as Treasurer of the Secondary STEM Council. Carol has received multiple honors, including three Time Warner Crystal Apple Awards, two BrightHouse Star Awards, two ITEEA STEM Teacher Excellence Awards, and Teacher of the Year recognitions at the school and district levels. Most recently, she was named the 2024–2025 Central Florida AIAA Educator of the Year. She holds a B.A. in Communication Studies from Vanderbilt University and an M.A. in Communication Studies from the University of Central Florida.
