Amy Sturgeon

Amy Sturgeon has been an educator in Tippecanoe School Corporation (Indiana) for over 30 years, currently serving as TSC’s EL/ML Instructional Coach. In this challenging role, she provides a wide variety of support and professional development to all 19 TSC schools (K-12) and all of the 1200+ teachers and support staff who work with TSC’s 1000+ multilingual learners who speak varying levels of English and over 50 other languages. Amy works with individuals, grade level teams, content-area teams, and entire staffs on integrating language acquisition and content learning with a wide variety of strategies and resources. She is constantly working to find or create resources and best practices, learn about other languages, and determine the best ways to help our teachers and students who have the challenging task of learning English and the curriculum at the same time. She has earned numerous grants and the Anne DeCamp Award for Creative Teaching in order to provide many resources for the teachers and tutors who work with multilingual learners in TSC. Amy Sturgeon is driven to serve and help other educators, and she has enjoyed many opportunities to present at local, state, and national conferences.
