Robotics and Math: The Robot that can move, sing, draw and sense things Come and spend some time exploring the Finch, a robot that can be coded by 3-year-olds to 300-year-olds. Come make some simple or complex programs and understand the math behind what you’re doing. The Finch robot travels on the ground and can draw lines, angles, flowers, make sounds or sense things in the environment. What is very exciting is how much you can learn after 20 minutes of learning, playing and experimenting. Join CEO Laura Hart and staff from Robofun, a 25 year old company in Manhattan, that helps children explore STEAM in joyful and nurturing ways. We will introduce the Finch and let you have some time to make mistakes, try again and have fun! In this two-hour workshop you will work with teams of up to 3 teachers to learn the basics of coding the finch. We will also discuss how you might use this in your classroom. You will have a chance to do the following activities: - Finch jousting competition - Drawing flowers and geometric shapes with the Finch - Using the Finch sensors to respond to light and sound
