Be Excellent, Not a Perfectionist: Cultivating Mindfulness for Educators

January 17, 2025
SOUTH 330D
School Leaders
Feeling overwhelmed and on the verge of burnout? As educators we are constantly giving, but neglecting self-care can lead to physical and emotional exhaustion, low self esteem, strained relationships, and reduced productivity. This interactive session explores the science behind mindfulness and equips you with practical tools and strategies to nurture your well-being, enhance teaching effectiveness, and prioritize self-care. We'll delve into a variety of apps, self-care practices, and techniques like yoga and breathwork as you learn how to integrate these mindfulness practices into your daily routine to manage stress and cultivate resilience. You probably have heard the phrase, “put on your own oxygen mask first.” How can you lead and serve your students or staff effectively if you don’t take care of yourself first? While complete avoidance of stress is unlikely, take this journey to discover ways to combat fatigue, shift your energy levels, and gain focus. Leave this session feeling empowered to thrive as an educator, not just survive.
