Championing Diversity in Esports: Impacting Urban Communities

January 16, 2025
NORTH 310F
Esports Leaders
Join us for an enlightening session on increasing the participation of female and urban students in scholastic esports. We will discuss the unique challenges these students face, including limited access to gaming resources, stereotypes, and lack of representation. Learn how to create an inclusive esports ecosystem that supports and empowers these underrepresented groups. We will explore strategies for providing access to equipment, mentorship programs, and safe spaces for all students. Attendees will gain insights into building partnerships with community organizations to offer resources and support. Additionally, we’ll discuss the importance of promoting mental health and well-being within the esports environment, ensuring students have the support they need to thrive. By the end of this session, educators will have actionable steps to create a welcoming and supportive environment that encourages participation from female and urban students, helping to diversify the esports community and provide equitable opportunities for all.
