Discover how Nicolas Junior High School students turned their classroom learning into a life-changing project by building a tiny home that addresses homelessness. The Tiny Home project, an elective class focused on woodshop, allowed students to dive into hands-on learning, reading, and understanding blueprint design while developing critical problem-solving and teamwork skills. Fullerton School District’s Director of Innovation and Instructional Support will share the journey from concept to completion. The Tiny Home project exemplifies how technology and innovation can empower junior high students to create tangible solutions to real-world challenges. This project allowed students to think critically, problem-solve, and see the direct impact of their work on their community. This session will also discuss how project-based learning fosters student engagement and growth, combined with modern tools and a purpose-driven curriculum. Join us as we walk through the process, celebrate the outcomes, and showcase how the Tiny Home project is a model for 21st-century education. Attendees will be inspired to bring similar innovations to their classrooms, making learning not only relevant but transformative.
