Ever wondered how composing music and coding connect? This presentation contains three fun activities that seamlessly blend music and coding. Each activity comes complete with a full lesson plan and additional resources. Chrome Music Lab's Song Maker: Forget sheet music, Chrome Music Lab's Song Maker lets students code their own tunes, no experience required. The adventure starts with drawing shapes on the staff, each creating a unique sound. Then, students become musical detectives, filling in the missing notes of familiar tunes. Scratch Band: This activity reveals the surprising connection between composing music and creating computer programs. Students code, compose, and conduct their very own digital orchestra using Scratch. Music Box Creation: This activity goes beyond the delightful melodies, uncovering the surprising connection between these charming instruments and the history of technology. Students will then delve into a fun, hands-on project where they code their own digital music box masterpieces, combining historical knowledge with modern coding skills.
