AI Horizons: Charting Independent Paths in Career and Technical Education

January 16, 2025
EXPO HALL LEADERSHIP ROUND TABLES: BOOTH 3386
District Leaders
This session explores our initiative to guide regional career and technical education (CTE) students on an exploratory journey into the future of their professions, with a special focus on the implications of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Our story begins with recognizing the urgent need to integrate AI literacy into CTE, preparing students for the rapidly evolving job market. We'll share our journey from concept to execution, highlighting strategies and tools we employed to foster an environment of independent learning and discovery. From AI-powered simulations to real-world “pitch event,” attendees will gain insights into how we've made AI both accessible and relevant to students' career aspirations. The session will not only cover our successes but also the challenges we faced, including overcoming skepticism, increasing equity, and ensuring our approach remains student-centered. We will share valuable lessons learned, emphasizing the importance of adaptability, continuous learning, and collaboration between educators, industry experts, and the students themselves. This breakout session promises to be a source of inspiration and practical advice for educators looking to embed AI into their curricula and empower their students to navigate the future confidently. Join us to be part of a conversation that shapes the next generation of technical professionals.
