In the age of artificial intelligence, are we still defining literacy the same way we did twenty—or even two—years ago? What if our current frameworks are missing the mark in preparing students (and educators) to navigate a world increasingly shaped by algorithmic thinking, adaptive tools, and AI-generated content? This interactive session invites educators, leaders, and edtech advocates into a provocative and hopeful dialogue: not about how to teach AI, but about how AI is redefining what it means to be literate. Together, we’ll examine how core aspects of literacy—comprehension, creation, critical thinking, and communication—evolve when AI tools become both our partners and platforms. Guided by powerful prompts, quotes, and small-group reflection, we’ll explore how AI reshapes the way we read, write, and make meaning. Participants will leave with new language, big questions, and ready-to-share insights that can help shift conversations in classrooms, PD sessions, and district planning rooms alike.
