What happens when students lead the lesson, and AI supports the thinking? In this immersive, student-led workshop, members of Students for Innovation guide educators through a model writing lesson that integrates AI tools as creative partners, not shortcuts. Participants will step into the learner’s role and experience how students use AI to brainstorm ideas, organize thoughts, and refine their writing, all while preserving voice, choice, and cognitive rigor. The workshop includes live demonstrations and collaborative activities where educators test AI writing supports, evaluate prompt effectiveness, and reflect on how tools like chatbots and generative models can deepen - not replace - student thinking. Ethical use is front and center, with students sharing how they navigate challenges like plagiarism, overreliance, and authorship integrity. This session shows what responsible, student-informed AI integration looks like in writing instruction. Educators will walk away with ready-to-use lesson structures and strategies to help students use AI to elevate their ideas, without losing ownership of their work.
