As AI becomes more common in schools, a key question emerges: does it help or harm students with learning differences? In partnership with New America, the Educating All Learners Alliance, a project of InnovateEDU, has developed a policy framework that equips education stakeholders including local and state agencies, policymakers, vendors, researchers, educators, and families with practical guidance on the responsible use of AI in education. This session will unpack key principles from the framework, such as protecting student privacy, ensuring access for all, promoting transparency, and advancing educational protections. Attendees will leave with concrete strategies to evaluate, adopt, and advocate for AI tools that effectively support students with disabilities and learning differences in their education ecosystems.
