January 13, 2026
EXPO: CENTER COURT: POSTERS
Classroom Leaders
What happens when STEM education centers culture, legacy, and lived experience? You get Coding with Culture’s HBCU-Ready approach to project-based learning. In this fast-paced session, educators will explore real-world tech projects built on the values and excellence of HBCUs. Attendees will see how culturally rooted computer science and design thinking can deepen engagement, boost creativity, and affirm students’ brilliance. Sample projects include “Design Your Dream HBCU” using Minecraft, “Black Superhero Tech Startups” with Scratch, and “My HBCU App” prototyped in MAD-Learn or App Lab. Participants will leave with plug-and-play resources, a culturally responsive PBL framework, and practical strategies for implementation in schools, OST programs, and STEM initiatives.
