This professional development session uses the cautionary tales of Kurt Vonnegut’s Harrison Bergeron and Ray Bradbury’s The Veldt to guide a critical, yet hopeful exploration of wearable AI technology. Both stories warn of futures where technology—meant to equalize or ease human life—ultimately erodes freedom, creativity, and authentic connection. By unpacking these narratives, participants will reflect on how to avoid similar pitfalls in our own increasingly tech-integrated world. Through discussion and practical examples, with wearable AI tools (ex. Neurosity Crown, Emotiv Insight, Apple Vision Pro, Fitbit Sense 2, Whoop Strap), attendees will develop strategies to implement technology that enhances human agency, supports equitable access, and fosters meaningful interaction—rather than replacing or diminishing it.
