Poster 6: The FLUF Test for AI: An Information Literacy Framework for Prompts and Critical Evaluation

January 13, 2026
EXPO: CENTER COURT: POSTERS
Library Leaders
Do you believe everything you read? Do our students blindly copy and paste their GenAI results without checking the sources? Would your AI results be better if you had given it a better prompt? These questions and more will be explored as we go on a guided tour of the FLUF Test. As the first information literacy framework to provide guidance on AI prompt building and critical evaluation of results, the FLUF Test takes information literacy to the next level. Building on popular frameworks like the CRAAP Test or the SIFT Method, see why these online critiques don’t quite measure up when GenAI is part of the equation. Explore the FLUF template that makes prompt writing easier. Learn what to “look for” as common issues with AI results, and learn to use the FLUF rubric to critique, reprompt, and regenerate until you have Zero FLUF!
