Florida’s K-12 AI Task Force was established to help Florida schools navigate the rapidly evolving role of artificial intelligence (AI) in K-12 education. This session will focus on the collaborative process that the Task Force engaged in for developing our state-wide guidance document. Participants will gain insight into key focus areas, including strategies for teaching with AI, fostering AI literacy to prepare students for the future, and designing professional learning pathways to support teachers. The session will also share our approach to providing guidance tailored for administrators and IT leaders, addressing issues such as safe implementation, data management and security, and infrastructure needs to ensure effective, safe, and responsible AI integration across the K-12 system. Lastly, participants will hear about plans for future initiatives and opportunities to contribute to this work. By highlighting both immediate priorities and long-term goals, this session will provide a comprehensive look at how Florida is building a model for safe, impactful, and innovative use of AI in schools.
