Prepare to look up and witness history in the making! Tonight’s nighttime sky drone show over International Drive outside of the West Concourse is proudly presented by The Innovation Center of St. Vrain Valley Schools Drone Performance Team—the world’s first high school student-led outdoor drone show team. This is a fully original, FAA-approved commercial drone show, conceived, designed, programmed, and executed entirely by students.
A team of eight exceptional high school innovators, guided by one dedicated drone performance teacher, has spent more than 60 hours coding this custom production using Python and Blender, programming a fleet of over 500 synchronized drones. Every animation you see in the night sky has been strategically planned to align with tonight’s theme: Game Changers—a fitting title for a team redefining what student-led learning can achieve.
From the brainstorming meeting to final flight execution, students lead every phase of production. They designed the aerial choreography, composed original music to accompany the show, and managed logistics, safety protocols, and live operations. These students are not just flying drones—they are applying real-world skills in engineering, creative design, project management, music production, and systems thinking at a professional level.
This performance carries real market value and is made possible because the students earned FAA commercial drone pilot licenses, allowing them to legally and professionally operate at this scale. The show is fully FAA approved, demonstrating the highest standards of safety, compliance, and technical excellence.
Special thanks to Firefly for providing the drones and transporting this incredible technology to Orlando.
As pioneers of the future of drone entertainment and education, these students are lighting up the sky—and the path forward—one show at a time!
