Designing for All: Implementing UDL and Accessibility in Canvas

January 14, 2026

Inclusion Leaders
Equitable access to learning is essential in today’s diverse classrooms. This interactive session equips general education and Exceptional Student Education (ESE) teachers with strategies to design inclusive, accessible learning experiences using Canvas.

Rooted in Universal Design for Learning (UDL), the session explores how to use Canvas tools to reduce barriers, support learner variability, and improve engagement. Educators will discover practical methods for customizing content, structuring courses for clarity, and embedding accessibility features that support students with disabilities, English language learners, and those with varied learning needs.

Participants will engage in live demonstrations, collaborative discussions, and hands-on practice to explore ways Canvas can be used to meet the needs of all learners. Facilitators will share real-world examples and provide resources that participants can immediately apply in their own classrooms.

By the end of the session, educators will have tools, techniques, and increased confidence to apply UDL principles within Canvas. They will leave prepared to create learning environments that promote equity, foster independence, and support the success of every student.
